When we started the home building process in 2019 I knew that I wanted a dark island to pop and anchor the space. We *almost* had our builder paint it, but we decided to not upgrade the paint selection to save some money. I am so glad that we waited because it gave me time to really nail down what I wanted. Plus, our builder only offered black as an upgrade and now that we are in our home I feel like that wouldn’t have been the best route. I knew I wanted a very rich blue or green color—think almost black but with a hint of color. I looked at tons and tons and tons of inspiration pictures and I thought it would be fun to share them with you!
The OG Inspiration
When we first started our build process this kitchen from Amber Lewis Interiors stuck in my mind. I loved the warmth of the light taupe cabinets and the boldness of the island. 2 years later and I am still obsessed with this kitchen!
I don’t know what it is about dark, moody pops of color throughout a home—but I am digging it! Here’s to making more bold color choices this year and stepping way, way out of my comfort zone.
